A Summer Spritz

Everyone has her own cocktail that tastes like the epitome of summer. For some, it is an ice-cold glass of rosé, a muddled mint mojito, a tropical mix of pineapple and rum… But for me, summer is incomplete without an Aperol Spritz – or, how the Italians say, a ‘spreeeetz’.

Aperol, similar to Campari, is a neon orange liquor that has a slightly bitter taste (but is oh, so delicious). Known as Campari’s younger brother, Aperol is lighter in flavor, has a higher sugar content and contains only half of the alcohol. I think it takes like heaven.

In a quaint port off the Italian coast, I revel in the sipping (sometimes, gulping) the effervescent personification of summer – a spritz.

Feel as though you, too, are sitting in a small fishing village, enjoying the setting Italian sun and recreate a spritz at home in just three easy steps!

Ingredients:

 Aperol

Prosecco

Soda Water

Ice

Orange Slice

 

Fill a large wine class with ice and an orange slice.

Pour about 3 parts Prosecco, 2 parts Aperol and 1 part soda.

Stir and sip!
