Everyone thinks that their own father is the (so-called) best, the role model for well rounded fathers alike. But, when we are speaking of the crème de la crème, there is absolutely no competition… Dad, of course I’m speaking about YOU!
And yes, you are most likely reading this, and it is published a few days before the actual (and quite clichéd) Hallmark holiday but I don’t mind. A celebration is a celebration, no matter the date.
A father-daughter relationship is one of life’s most interesting dynamics, and in the case between my father and his two daughters, there is no better one. Dad has been our pillar through the most trying of times, opening up all doors of opportunity and bestowing relevant and thoughtful advice - always.
And although I could list here all the traits my father has taught me, they neither adequately describe the love and gratitude I have for him, nor how matchless he is. So I am going to describe here, how this year, I’m celebrating the most amazing male figure in my life. A male figure to whom every man in my life (Ascanio, beware!!!) will forever be compared, because he is above and beyond.
To celebrate Dad this year, I’ve decided to add his two beautiful daughters to his wind-up toy collection.
To preface, my Dad is close to having the Guinness Book of World Records for having the most wind-up toys, all perched surrounding his office desk, waiting for the golden ticket of life, a twist of the wrist. I am not sure how the collection came to fruition but what I am sure of is that in moments of boredom, ADD, or frustration, the Woody’s, Buzz Lightyear’s and Mr. Potato Head’s have given him layers of comfort. Consolation that perhaps neither my siblings or I could provide.
Since it is Father’s Day, after all, I created two wind-up toys in character of Camila and I, of course, in the avatar of frogs, my favorite animals.
Dad, I hope the Ribbit Sisters will provide even the slightest amount of love, comfort and happiness while sitting at the office, even more so that the vintage Chattering Teeth, Rob The Robot and Waving Statue Of Liberty.
You are the world’s most toad-ally amazing father and I am the most blessed.
